First check what is using storage

Open your phone's storage settings and identify the largest categories. Android menus differ between manufacturers, so look for Storage or Device care rather than following a single brand-specific menu blindly.

Delete obvious junk

Remove downloads, duplicate files, old screen recordings and media you have already backed up.

Review large videos

Videos often consume more storage than photos. Check messaging apps, camera folders and downloaded videos before deleting anything.

Clear app cache carefully

Clearing cache can remove temporary files, but clearing app storage/data can sign you out or remove locally stored information. Do not confuse the two options.

Use cloud backups wisely

Confirm that photos and documents are actually backed up before deleting local copies. A backup that has not completed is not a backup you can safely rely on.

What not to delete

Avoid deleting unfamiliar system folders or files simply because they look large. If you do not know what a file is, investigate it first.
